Grace and Frankie: Season Two
review by Bobby Blakey

Netflix has really stepped up their game with their original series including Stranger Things, the Marvel series and more. One of the more unexpected great shows is Grace and Frankie starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen, Sam Waterson, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael, Baron Vaughn, and Ernie Hudson. Now fans of the show can bring home the complete second season home on DVD.
Grace and Frankie follows two woman with an already strained relationship try to cope with the circumstances together after finding out that their husbands are not just work partners, but have also been romantically involved for the last 20 years. The first season set the tone of them dealing with the long time affair and separation forcing them to live together with both emotional and hilarious results. This season allowed them to move the story forward now that it has established everything and they out do the first season from the very first episode. Of course they still deal with the usual antics of their completely different personalities, but this season is even more about new relationships and the struggles of their current ones.

The entire cast all do a great job making the characters their own and have great chemistry together. I love that this series despite being about Fonda and Tomlin’s characters they make sure to give a lot of time to the rest of the cast. The season kicks off with an emergency medical issue that causes all new drama for everyone, but it also drives some closer together. On the other side of the story they allow Grace and Frankie to to start moving forward with their own love life which just adds another fun element to the already hilarious show. This is one of those shows that while each episode is only 30 minutes it features as much as content as any hour long drama.

This is a great show that was such a refreshing surprise when I saw the first season and just gets better and better with every episode. This is easily one of my favorite shows Netflix has right now and this is a perfect chance to revisit the series or see it for the first time with Grace and Frankie: Season Two available on DVD on February 21st from Lionsgate Home Entertainment and Skydance Television.
