Justice League:
Crisis on Infinite Earths-Part III
review by Bobby Blakey
For years Warner Bros and DC Comics have been churning out some great animated features including Batman: Killing Joke, The Death of Superman, Batman: Soul of the Dragon and more recently Batman: Doom Comes to Gotham. With their film Superman: Man of Tomorrow they kicked off what they refer to as the Tomorrowverse that has spanned numerous films and now two films into the new trilogy Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths. Now the final chapter is on its way with the aptly titled Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three featuring the returning voices of Jensen Ackles, Aldis Hodge, Darren Criss, Meg Donnelly, Corey Stoll and Stana Katic with Jeff Wamester once again returning to direct.

Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three follows the now fully revealed as the ultimate threat to existence, the ANTI-MONITOR who wages an unrelenting attack on the surviving Earths that struggle for survival in a pocket universe. One-by-one, these worlds and all their inhabitants are vaporized! On the planets that remain, even time itself is shattered and heroes from the past join the Justice League and their rag-tag allies against the epitome of evil. But as they make their last stand, will the sacrifice of the superheroes be enough to save us all?
With this recent stream of DCU films in the Tomorrowverse it took me a while before I was really digging the thicker line art style. At this point I am kind of used to it and it’s grown on me. With this latest big endeavor, they have once again managed to deliver something pretty great. It continues to veer away from some elements of the source material, but the core of it is still intact. With everything that transpired in the first two films I wasn’t sure where they were going to kick things off. I loved that it just dived right into the action that
is pushing the story forward and never really lets up until the end.

The best thing about these stories is the chance to continue to offer up so many characters and variations of them including an iconic voice actor making his final appearance that fans will no doubt love. They have jam packed this second outing with tons of both as well as enough action to make you almost wonder how they squeezed a story in there. They keep it tight, but still manage to bring plenty of heart into the mix to make you care about these characters and what Supergirl is going through.
The artwork is pretty much on par with the previous films in this series and looks great. It’s more standout with the bold lines as opposed to the thinner look we are used to, but I think it has found its groove and looks great. The voice actors all do a great job with their characters and whereas the previous outing got to focus more on some different characters this time around got it all back on track keeping the focus mostly on the core group, but with plenty of others either stepping in or shining in the background.
Hardcore fans will likely have some issues with the liberties, but if you just let it play out the way it does with this cast of icons then I think you will have a great time especially getting to see so many great characters that didn’t make it or not around during the original run of the comic.
This release not only includes the film, but bonus content including featurettes on bringing this final chapter to life. Be there to witness the end of the epic conclusion when Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three hits available now on digital, 4K Limited Edition Steelbook and Blu-ray from Warner Bros Home Entertainment.
