“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

Of all the shows that have spun out of the Arrowverse I never would have thought the Legends of Tomorrow would be one of the most fun. For six seasons the show delivered a Star Trek like superhero time hoping adventure filled with laughs and heart all wrapped up in a super powered bow. Recently it was sadly announced that the seventh season was its last making it yet another of the DC series to make its exit from The CW. Now what better time to dive into this final season with Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Seventh and Final Season.

Legends of Tomorrow follows a group of misfit heroes as they fight, talk, and sing their way through protecting the timeline from aberrations, anomalies, and anything else that threatens to mess with history. Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. The timeship Waverider’s crew have dealt with monsters, time anomalies, villains from Hell, and more.

After saving the planet from an alien invasion last season, the Legends deserve a break. Too bad their time travel ship, the Waverider, gets blown up by a second Waverider…meaning the Legends are now trapped in 1925 Odessa, Texas! The only way to get home, and get payback on their mysterious new enemy, is to journey across the country to an early pioneer of time travel, who might just be their only hope of returning home. But with no Waverider, no way of knowing how they’re impacting the timeline, and a time-traveling foe hunting them, this will be the toughest mission yet for the Legends.

Of all the CW DC series this one seems to maintain the insanity with every

season. Sure there are episodes that are just ridiculous and silly, but this show knows what it is and never tries to be anything else. It is one of the few in the DC “Arrowverse” shows that while it still brings in various important elements it never feels like its shoehorning them in just because. That being said this season ditched the varying local keeping the majority of the season in 1925 which kind of changed the dynamic of the show and not always in a good way. I enjoy the historical infusion, but here it just started feeling too convenient after a while.

Last season pretty much ditched the costume hero aspect and this season keeps with that trend with only Constantine still looking the same, but of course it’s just his clothes. This season continued that trend and it really is feeling the loss of some of the characters as the teams keeps rotating the roster. I know that was originally supposed to be the plan with the show, but it kind of kept them together but with them not bringing to many overly exciting new additions it is starting to lose some of its spark. The main crew that have now just aren’t overly interesting and honestly stopped keeping my interest early on in this final season.

There is an interesting element involving the ships computer Gideon that offers up a fun episode that brings back fan favorites all the way back from season 1 to celebrate the shows 100th. This episode reminds how fun the show could be and even made a fun reference to the costumes, but alas only lasted one episode and things just went back to where it was. This story plays more out later once it finally leaves the 1920s story part of the season, but never really make sit get back to its glory seasons. It’s also baffling the lack of power using in this show that I can only contribute to budgets I guess, but for whatever reason it makes no sense most of the time.

Sadly this final season wasn’t planned so we don’t get a full wrap up to the series so maybe they will return with a film, special or guest into another of the left over shows to get to wrap some stuff up, but I sadly feel like it will just all be left unresolved. In addition to all 13 episodes of the series this release offers up bonus content including a gag reel, unaired scenes, featurettes and more.
