One of my favorite comedies of all time is Broken Lizards 2001 cult classic Super Troopers. With its success they have gone on to make numerous great comedies including Club Dread, Beerfest, The Slammin Salmon, and Super Troopers 2. Now they are back for their latest feature Quasi starring Steve Lemme, Adrianne Palicki, Adrianne Palicki, Jay Chandrasekhar, Erik Stolhanske, Gabriel Hogan, Marcus Henderson, Eugene Cordero and Kevin Heffernan taking on double duty starring and directing. Could this be yet another hilarious addition to their filmography or will it be hump too high to climb?

Quasi follows a hapless hunchback yearns for love, but finds himself in the middle of a murderous feud between the Pope and the king of France when each orders the hunchback to kill the other.

 

I love all things Broken Lizard so was excited to find out that they had this new feature, but was underwhelmed by the initial trailer. Thankfully that was unwarranted because the actual films is a great time. Obviously it’s over the top ridiculous and all around dumb in the best way possible, but that is exactly what I was expecting and loved it.

 

The entire crew is here including the cast from Tacoma FD with some of them taking on multiple parts that makes it al the more entertaining. The entire vibe of the film gave me a classic Mel Brooks feel with their signature style and laughs. Everyone looks to be having a blast in this hilarious period piece and it really helps to make it work more than it doesn’t Sure there are  a few jokes that fall flat, but as a whole it brought exactly what I was expecting.
