I was a fan of most of the CW DC series from the beginning and my love for all comic related things keeps me eager for more. With the Arrowverse officially over Superman & Lois was the final series still in play. It came as no surprise that the fourth season was announced as its last and some of the characters were pushed into guest stars instead of regulars. Now the final epic season is coming home with Superman & Lois: The Fourth and Final Season to slap the exclamation point on the CW DC Universe.

Superman& Lois follows Clark Kent and Lois Lane who return to Smallville with their sons Jonathan and Jordan, where they are reacquainted with Lana Lang, her husband Kyle Cushing, and their daughter Sarah. After years of facing super-villains, monsters, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, one of the world’s greatest superheroes and comic books’ most famous journalist come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever – dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents!

The fourth and final season of Superman & Lois picks up with Superman and Luthor's monster locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle, as Clark fights

for his life against the seemingly unstoppable creature. Back on the ground, General Lane struggles to stay alive after being kidnapped by Luthor's henchmen, while Lois, Jordan, and Jonathan race against time to rescue him. But standing in their way is Lex Luthor himself, who has permanently moved to Smallville as the next step in his malicious plan to destroy Lois Lane.

While I love Superman, I have never been a massive fan. I was initially worried about the direction this show was going, but I was pulled right in and loved this previous three seasons.

The dynamic of the show brought a new direction for the man of steel that made it feel fresh and new as opposed to just rehashing the same stories again. I was annoyed with the dynamic of the kids and dealing with powers etc., but it found its footing and then went all in with the superhero side of it. This successfully continued throughout every season, bringing a fun element of the struggles of their powers and sibling rivalry which makes it all the more entertaining and believable at their age.

I was concerned about the casting change of Jonathan Kent with Michael Bishop replacing Jordan Elsass in the third season. But Bishop not only stepped in and did a great job I personally preferred him by the time the series got into this final season. The dynamic between the two comes to a new head with them both dealing with powers in this last season which causes more conflict, but also a deeper bonding that struggled previously due to the rivalry. This season also saw some of the regulars pushed back to guest stars that kind of changed the way some of the show works, but was a smart choice to let the final episodes really focus on the Kents and their fight against Luthor.

Fans have gotten to see different live action versions of Doomsday in Smallville and Batman v Superman, but was surprised to see how this time around might have been the best version yet. It is menacing, looks mostly comic accurate and made for some great action. Their own version of the death of superman arc was compelling bringing new ideas to the story that worked to perfection leading into the series finale.

This is easily my favorite version of Luthor with Michael Cudlitz. All the maniacal and genius moments are here, but this is a character fueled by rage and pulls no punches. This in turn takes Clark and Superman into places and actions that we don’t often see in the best way possible. Their one-on-one street fight showcases two men fighting with pure anger and hate and it really pushes the tone of the show into a new direction and allows Superman to show some emotional weakness and a reason to fight his way back to the morals in which define him.

The final episode of the series not only wraps up this version of the Man of Steel to perfection but takes fans on a journey we have never gotten to witness. Being its own version of the legacy of Superman it allowed them to put it all out there and do their own thing and I loved it. It brought everything full circle, allowing all the characters to get their deserved ending and a definitive end cap to the legacy of Superman and Lois in this series.

This release offers up all 10 episodes of the final season that puts the perfect cap to the complete series. In addition to this new release, they are also releasing a complete series collection that brings all the bonus content and all four seasons together.
