The Adventures of Batman review by Bobby Blakey

Batman is no doubt one of the most recognizable comic character of all time. Since his creation by Bill Finger and Bob Kane in the later 30s the character has appeared in numerous films, TV series both live action and more prominently animation. In 1968 the dynamic duo came to TV in the series The Batman/Superman Hour hit airwaves offering up fans all the heroes they could want. The show was later rebranded with the Batman segments set into its own series aptly titled The Adventures of Batman.
The Adventures of Batman follows famed crime fighting duo Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder as they take on a menagerie of his iconic rogues gallery. The series ran for one season and features the voices of Olan Soule as Batman, Casey Kasem as Robin and Ted Knight as the narrator and most of the rouges gallery.
This show fully captured the comic and even elements of the live action series to create a great use of the characters. The short segments allow them to get right to the point and getting Batman right into action. I loved this show as a kid and I love it just as much now. The fun angles and visuals brings a comic tone to the
series while allowing fans to enjoy seeing their favorite heroes and villains in action.
Of course the show is cliché and silly at times, but that was the era of comics and made them so fun to read and in this case watch. The gadgets, plans and action are often times over the top and ridiculous, but that is what us fans want or what good is the villain? In the end the series still holds up well and brings both the fun of classic Batman adventures to old and new fans, but also brings the nostalgia of the iconic stories of old.
This release offers up all the episodes of the season making it a must have for fans of the classic character. Grab your copy of The Adventures of Batman available now on Blu-ray from Warner Bros Home Entertainment.
