      Wolfs
review by Bobby Blakey

Director Jon Watts has been swinging through the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years helming all three of the Spider-Man films to critical acclaim. Now he has stepped out of the MCU and teaming up with George Clooney and Brad Pitt for his latest film Wolfs, but does it bring these two cinematic powerhouses to success like their past projects, or will it leave a bigger mess than it is trying to clean?

Wolfs follows a professional fixer who is hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But when a second fixer shows up and the two "lone wolves" are forced to work together, they find their night spiraling out of control in ways that neither one of them expected.

Part of the reason those Ocean’s films work at all is due to the great chemistry of Clooney and Pitt. They have done a few other films together outside of that series and always are great together. Getting to see them back together had me invested immediately hopeful and with Watts at the helm it had the power behind it to deliver and it does just that.

The film isn’t overly complicated in regard to the story but brings just enough intrigue and twists to keep you invested and interested. This is the kind of film that could get lost on itself with the wrong cast, but these two guys elevate it to something bigger than itself. This time around they aren’t playing the friends, but instead butting heads in a more dysfunctional relationship and works better than ever.

Watts has crafted a caper style of film that lets Pitt and Clooney just have some fun with darker stakes than films like Oceans Eleven with some well

executed and entertaining action pieces infused into the drama of it all. There is a serious tone to it, but they keep it light with their dislike of each other while still seeing their strange relationship grow into something more without it needing to be anything other than what it is.

This isn’t a complicated film but brings the fun and one that I would have loved see get theatrical release, but int his time of division in theater going is the perfect film for streaming. Hopefully this film finds the audience it deserves because it is a fun flick worth checking out.
